Zip code maps show the areas covered by US Postal
Service zip codes. They are widely used by businesses
when planning marketing campaigns, opening new stores,
and targeting direct mailings. The reason for this
use is the availability of economic data for the individual
zip code areas. Statistics on income, households and
a variety of other metrics are available by zip code
from the US Census Bureau. These allow businesses
to target their efforts to the highest income or other
demographic that is belived to correlate with marketing
success.
