NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency are cooperating on the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission satellite project. The agencies are monitoring rainfall from space and using the data for mapping and forecasting purposes. The map below is a cumulative rainfall map created by the TRMM project.
