The city of Edinburgh, Scotland has installed a "Bustracker" system on their city buses. Previously plagued with assults and other crimes the buses are now equipped with "panic buttons" which can be pushed to summon police. GPS technology is incorporated into the system and the location of the bus is also related to police. An additional benefit of the system is that the GPS equipped bus now transmits a signal to bus stops on its route, giving an estimated time of arrival.
