Police used GPS tracking during their investigation of a New York attorney. Their actions were challenged in court. However U.S. District Judge David Hurd ruled that police do not need court authorization to use this technology for tracking a vehicle. He stated that a person has no expectation of privacy in the whereabouts of their vehicle on a public roadway."
