An interesting article at fcw.com discusses the growing volume of map data and the limited abilities of libraries and other repositories to archive the documents or digital data and make them available to map users. For this to succeed properly there clearly must be a coordinated effort that involves central digital map archives and the conversion of paper maps into digital images that can be shared through computer networks.
