Truckers have long been required to keep detailed logs of their driving in handwritten log books. Now, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is making a way for them to use GPS tracking as an automatically generated log.

I've reported lots of benefits of GPS here but there are a few downside stores. Two reports of French motorists following the instructions of their onboard GPS and driving the wrong way down French highways can be read at the iafrica.com website. It is very easy to understand how flaws in driver judgement or in the voice guidance software could lead to such incidents.
